Gum Grafting - Free Gingival GraftGum grafts involve the movement of gum tissue from one area of the mouth to another. They are recommended to cover exposed roots protecting them from decay or toothbrush abrasion or to thicken the gums to help prevent gum recession from occurring.
The free gingival graft is used to change the gum tissue at the base of a tooth making it thicker and stronger so it is less likely to recede. They are often necessary before undertaking orthodontic treatment in areas where the gums are thin. View gallery
Gum Grafting - Connective Tissue GraftGum grafts involve the movement of gum tissue from one area of the mouth to another. They are recommended to cover exposed roots protecting them from decay or toothbrush abrasion or to thicken the gums to help prevent gum recession from occurring.
The connective tissue graft is used to cover exposed root surfaces when teeth are sensitive or to protect the roots from decay and toothbrush abrasion. View gallery
Dental Implants - Single ImplantDental implants are one of the most exciting advances to replace missing teeth. A dental implant is a small screw usually composed of titanium that can be used to support many types of dental restorations. Dental implants can be used to support a single tooth, multiple teeth like in a dental bridge, a removable appliance and even a complete set of teeth. They are even being used to help with orthodontic appliances during tooth movement. View gallery

Esthetic Tooth Lengthening - GingivectomyCrown or tooth lengthening is completed to improve the esthetic appearance of the teeth or to expose more of the tooth for the placement of restorations.
Esthetic Tooth Lengthening exposes more of the tooth in a visible area of the mouth so that the tooth appears longer and has a nice cosmetic appearance. It may involve removal only of excess gum tissue using a gingivectomy procedure, or might require recontouring of the bone as in a conventional crown lengthening procedure.
This procedure is simply the removal of excess gum tissue to expose the entire crown of the tooth improving esthetics and creating optimal tooth proportions. It is also used to remove excessive gum tissue after orthodontic treatment, or to recontour gums in the front of the mouth to improve the esthetic appearance of the teeth often in conjunction with the placement of esthetic veneers or crowns. Crown Lengthening has the same final appearance as the gingivectomy, but also contours the bone to support the gums and creates the optimal biologic relationship between the gums, bone and teeth.

Crown Lengthening for RestorationsCrown Lengthening or tooth lengthening is completed to expose more of the tooth for the placement of restorations.
Crown lengthening is often recommended when restorations are needed where decay has developed under the gums, teeth have broken off, teeth are short from severe wear, or sometimes when teeth are just too short to allow a new restoration to stay in place. View gallery
FrenectomyA frenectomy is used to remove the small fold of tissue under the upper lip when it is holding the upper front teeth apart or when it is pulling on the gum line. It can sometimes be used in other areas of the mouth where folds of tissue are pulling on the gums and to release the tongue when tongue movement is restricted by the fold of tissue under the base of the tongue. Temporary Anchorage DevicesTemporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) are small, removable screws that can be placed between the teeth, above or below the teeth and even behind the teeth to create an anchor for orthodontic tooth movement. They can simplify some types of tooth movement and reduce the total treatment time in some situations. View gallery
Ridge AugmentationA ridge augmentation involves the placement of bone particles or blocks of bone obtained from other sites in the mouth or from a bone bank into sites under the gums to replace bone that is missing. The procedure is also used to create additional bone that is needed for a dental implant or sometimes under a dental bridge to make the gums look more natural. View gallery
